Supermarkets not happy with Schweddy Balls
Inspired by a 1998 Saturday Night Live skit featuring Alec Baldwin,“Schweddy Balls” is a new limited edition flavor released by Ben and Jerry’s.
Some supermarkets aren’t seeing the humor in the product and are banning the product from their stores.
Also in protest of the product, a Mississippi based group, One Million Moms, is pleading with supermarkets to keep it off the shelves. Their argument is that the product is not appropriate for children.
Though most supermarkets won’t comment on their decision to pull the product, the limited availability has not affected sales
Ben and Jerry’s spokesperson Sean Greenwood that “Schweddy Balls” has become the most popular limited edition ice cream the company has ever sold.
The product, which is vanilla ice cream with a hint of rum and mixed with fudge covered rum and malt balls, is available for a limited time only.
