Conrad Murray sentenced to maximum punishment
Judge Michael Pastor sentenced Conrad Murray to four years in prison on Tuesday.
The LA Times reports that Judge Pastor sentenced Murray to the maximum punishment possible for his role in the death of Michael Jackson, calling it “money-for-medicine madness.”
“Talk about blaming the victim,” Pastor said. “Not only isn’t there any remorse, there is umbrage and outrage on the part of Dr. Murray against the decedent.”
Continuing to level Murray, Pastor said, “Michael Jackson died not because of an isolated one-off occurrence or incident. He died because of a totality of circumstances which are directly attributable to Dr. Murray, not some mistake or some accident in the early morning hours of 2009.”
We reported earlier this month that Murray was found guilty of involuntary manslaughter. Although it was believed that Murray’s lack of a criminal record and California’s overcrowded prisons might play a role in Judge Pastor’s verdict, neither prevented Pastor from issuing the maximum punishment available.
