Rock and Roll Hall of Fame to induct Beastie Boys, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Guns N’ Roses
Next year’s class of Rock and Roll Hall of Fame inductees has been announced and includes a group with a wide variety of styles.
Rolling Stone reports that included in next year’s class of Rock and Roll Hall of Fame artists are the Beastie Boys, the Red Hot Chili Peppers, Guns N’ Roses, Donovan, the Small Faces/Faces and Laura Nyro. In addition, the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame will honor the late Don Kirshner with the Ahmet Ertegun (non performer) Award. The award is named after the late Ertegun who was the founder and president of Atlantic Records.
Also among those being honored by the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame are producers Cosimo Matassa, Tom Dowd and Glyn Johns, who will receive the Award for Musical Excellence, and Freddie King, who will enter the Hall of Fame as an Early Influence.
The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame induction ceremony will be held April 14, 2012 at Cleveland’s Public Hall and will be aired on HBO in May. The ceremony will be open to the public.
