Lionsgate in talks to remake 2000 thriller
Lionsgate is currently working on a remake of “American Psycho” and has hired Noble Jones to write and direct the film.
This will mark Jones’ feature directorial debut, MovieWeb reports.
The original film starred Christian Bale as Patrick Bateman, an affluent investment banker in the 1980s, who moonlights as a serial killer.
Jones pitched a new take of the film to the studio, which explores how Patrick Bateman adjusts to New York City in the 21st Century.
The remake has not yet been given the go-ahead by Lionsgate, and is still in the early stages of development.
Jones, a protégé of director David Fincher, has directed several commercials and music videos. He worked as a second unit director on Fincher’s Oscar-nominated film, “The Social Network.”
The original “American Psycho” was released in 2000. Bale’s co-stars were Justin Theroux, Josh Lucas, Chloe Sevigny, Reese Witherspoon, Samantha Mathis and Matt Ross.
