Former Reds shortstop Barry Larkin to be honored
Barry Larkin has been elected to the baseball Hall of Fame.
The Washington Post reports that Larkin will be one of two players to be inducted into the baseball Hall of Fame on July 22 in Cooperstown. Larkin and the late Ron Santo will be the only members of the 2012 class. Larkin fell 75 votes short of being elected last year.
Larkin was the longtime shortstop for the Cincinnati Reds.
“I’m just incredibly, incredibly moved by this whole experience and so humbled by the experience and so excited about being the newest member of the Hall of Fame,” Larkin said on a conference call.
