Another star has joined the stars
The Disco diva, Donna Summer, has died this morning at her Florida home at age 63. Summer has been battling lung cancer for quite sometime.
The 70’s songstress was a five-time Grammy Award winner. Summer rose to fame in the 70s with popular disco hits “She Works Hard for the Money” “Hot Stuff” and “Last Dance.” The singer continued her domination into the 80’s with hits like “She Works Hard for the Money” and “This Time I Know It’s for Real.”
A close source to Summer disclosed to TMZ that singer tried to conceal the extent of her sickness. Instead Summer was hard at work on another album. Last year Summer was working with music producer, also her nephew, O’Mega Red on a track titled ‘Angel.’
Summer’s family released a statement stating that they “are at peace celebrating her extraordinary life and her continued legacy.” Celebrities are mourning the loss from Katy Perry to Barbra Streisand. Elton John released in a statement:
“Her records sound as good today as they ever did. That she has never been inducted into the Rock `n’ Roll Hall of Fame is a total disgrace especially when I see the second-rate talent that has been inducted…She is a great friend to me and to the Elton John AIDS Foundation and I will miss her greatly.”
The glossy singer was best known for her flamboyant dressing while performing—long eyelashes and glitzy gowns. Her musical styling has not only paved the way for the Disco Music Era but has left us with many timeless tunes that will never be forgotten.
