Dennis Rodman sentenced to 104 hours of community service for failing to pay child support

Past child support charges unrelated to Rodman’s current sentence to be addressed on June 22

A recent court ruling has had Dennis Rodman sentenced to 104 hours of community service and three years of probation after he was found guilty for failing to pay child support.

Rodman, the 51-year-old former NBA star, known for both his on- and off-court behavior, was found guilty on four counts of contempt involving child support owed spanning from 2009 to 2010.
Linnea Willis, Rodman’s attorney, reported the four charges resulting from having Dennis Rodman sentenced came from a time, in which he had an expected $50,000 a month obligation in child support.

Rodman has be quoted as having said he is not earning the same amount of money as he did during his time in the NBA, but he still plays in countries in Asia and Europe enough to “keep everyone satisfied.”

The judge’s recent ruling of having Dennis Rodman sentenced does not include back child support that attorneys of his ex-wife, Michelle Rodman, claim exceeds $800,000.

These charges are not related to the current ruling of having Rodman sentenced and will be addressed at a hearing on June 22.

Having Dennis Rodman sentenced could provide him with time to work near his Florida home doing something he enjoys. Orange County Superior Court Commissioner Barry Michaelson suggested the final result of having Rodman sentenced could turn out well for those he is helping through his community service. He recommended Rodman use his skills as motivation and assistance to others.

According to an AP article, Rodman was quoted as saying he is eager to do whatever community service is required and that he hopes to serve his time working with children.
“It’s all about the kids,” he said. “It does suck the fact that it had to come to this.”

Rodman formerly played for NBA teams the Chicago Bulls, Detroit Pistons as well as San Antonio, Dallas and the Los Angeles Lakers.
