Emma Stone transformed her character demographic when she starred in Monday’s midnight premier of Sony’s The Amazing Spider-Man, racking in $7.5 million.

Emma Stone expressed her gratitude in working with new Spider-Man (Peter Parker) actor Andrew Garfield.

In this new Spider-Man installment, Emma Stone plays Gwen Stacy, the love interest of Peter Parker, an orphaned high school student. Stone and Garfield are romantically involved in real life after meeting in June 2011 at their audition for The Amazing Spider-Man.

But Emma Stone’s rendition of Gwen Stacy is unique to the early comic book portrayals of her character. When On The Red Carpet asked Stone what she would bring to Gwen Stacy, she said, “Modernizing was a major thing because she was around 50 years ago.”

Despite childhood trauma involving two broken arms after flying off gymnastics bars, Emma Stone faced her fear with harnesses for filming.

Stone said, “I’m fine on a roller coaster but once you put me in one of those things where they shoot you up and you free-fall, I don’t like that. I get really freaked out when it’s a free-fall,” comparing the use of a harness to the feeling of being on a roller-coaster.

Emma Stone made her way to fame after first appearing in Superbad across Jonah Hill and Michael Cera. Stone rapidly made her way through the industry with her roles in Crazy, Stupid, Love, The Help and Easy A, the role that earned her a Golden Globe nomination.
