This past week, songstress Charli XCX and Jason Derulo made a special appearance on Good Morning America where they announced nominees for the 2014 American Music Awards.
Iggy Azalea leads the nominees with 6 nominations which include new Artist of the Year, Artist of the Year, and Single of the Year among 3 others. Trailing behind are John Legend, Katy Perry and Pharrell Williams who have each garnered much success for their 2014 releases with 5 nominations each.
Charli XCX also confirmed her performance for the live telecast and noted the rest of the lineup will be announced in the coming weeks in anticipation for the award show.
One Direction are among other noteworthy nominees and received 3 nominations for Artist of the Year, Favorite Album (Pop/Rock) for Midnight Memories, and Favorite Band/Duo/Group (Pop/Rock). Fellow tour-mates, 5 Seconds of Summer have also received a nomination and will be contending for the New Artist of the Year award alongside Charli XCX, Iggy Azalea, Bastille, Sam Smith and Meghan Trainor as presented by Kohl’s.
