The C.I.A finally acknowledges Area 51 but does not acknowledge aliens
Area 51 has become synonymous with alien invasions, fake moon landings and a slew of other conspiracies that have been circulating the United States’ mysterious government for decades. Now, the CIA has released declassified documents where the government acknowledges the existence of Area 51 for the first time.
Just as theorists have said for years, Area 51 is located in the Mojave Desert, which is located approximately 100 miles north of Las Vegas. However, the CIA hasn’t mentioned Area 51 being an extra terrestrial safe house. Instead, the CIA has said that Area 51 had been a testing ground for the U-2 spy plane during the Cold War.
The U-2 spy plane flew at altitudes of more than 70,000 feet, which was nearly three times higher than the average airplane during the 1950’s. “High-altitude testing of the U-2 soon led to an unexpected side effect- a tremendous increase in reports of unidentified flying objects,” explained the CIA report.
This confirmation of Area 51 was revealed in a document called “The Central Intelligence Agency and Overhead Reconnaissance: The U-2 and Oxcart Programs,” after repeated requests from George Washington University to release this information prompted the CIA to disclose this information. National Security Archive Senior, Jeffrey Richelson, asked for this information back in 2005 and just received it a few weeks ago.
“It marks an end of official secrecy about the facts of Area 51,” Richelson explained to the Las Vegas Sun. “It opens up the possibility that future accounts of this and other aerial projects will be less redacted, more fully explained in terms of their presence in Area 51.”
Notably absent from the report, was the mention of the infamous Roswell occurrence, when on July 7, 1947, a large object that was in the sky crashed onto a ranch by Roswell, New Mexico. Alien corpses were said to be brought back to Area 51, as well as the remnants of the UFO. This sparked the conspiracy that ultimately led to videos of alien autopsies and pictures of alien corpses to infiltrate the media for years after this incident.
Although there are no mentions of alien testing or crashed UFOs the document still contains many redactions, which can still fuel the fire for theorists and alien enthusiasts alike to form their own opinion about what other events have happened at the no longer mythical Area 51.
