Ricki finally gets her new step-dad
Well, looks like Arie couldn’t win Emily’s race after all on this season’s ‘Bachelorette.’ It was shocking to watch bachelorette, Emily Maynard, choose Jef (with-one-F) over NASCAR driver, Arie Luyendyk.
Just in case you have been hiding under a rock for the past couple of months, here is a little recap of this season’s ‘Bachelorette.’ Emily Maynard, the beautiful, blonde southern belle, is a single mom from North Carolina. Eight years ago, Emily was engaged to Ricky Hendrick, NASCAR driver, when he died in a plane crash in 2004 with ten other people. The morning of the crash, Emily Maynard decided not to go with her fiancé because she was feeling sick and thought she might be coming down with the flu. Little did she know, she was pregnant with Ricky’s child. This season, the bachelorette is not only trying to find her knight in shining armor, but she is also trying to find her 7-year-old daughter, Ricki, the perfect dad.
Last night, most of the world curled up on the couch with their bag of popcorn believing, with no doubt in their minds, that Emily Maynard would be choosing Arie Luyendyk to be her husband. However, the bachelorette shocked everyone when she met with Arie, and, with tears in her eyes, broke his heart. Emily Maynard went on to explain how she didn’t know if she would say yes to Jef is he were to propose. However, as soon as the edgy 27-year-old was down on one knee holding a Neil Lane engagement ring that has been reported as being worth more than $150,000, Emily Maynard could not say no.
The last hour of last night’s show consisted of Arie coming back and seeing Emily for the first time, and Jef and Emily making their first appearance in public together since the filming of the last episode. The audience found out that Arie flew out to see Emily in North Carolina, but ended up just leaving her his journal from the show as he didn’t want to complicate things with Ricki – a studly move, if I do say so myself. However, Emily Maynard told Arie last night that she did not read his journal as she did not think it would have been fair to Jef, and knew it would only complicate things for her again.
Jef and Emily announced that Jef is moving to North Carolina to be with Emily and Ricki while they plan their wedding. The happy couple does not have a set date yet; however, Emily Maynard stated that she would love a spring wedding.
