After financial problems, the Crystal Cathedral has decided to sell its famous glass building.
In a decision to solve financial problems, the Crystal Cathedral sold the glass building to the Roman Catholic Diocese of Orange.
This move was approved by U.S. Bankruptcy Court Judge Robert N. Kwan to help get back on solid ground since declaring bankruptcy last year.
After wining the bidding war with Orange County’s Chapman University, the diocese will pay $57.5 million to use the building.
These will force congregants out of the Cathedral and possibly move up the street to the church that the diocese currently occupates.
Daughter of the church’s founder Carol Milner said, “I’m really pleased to know that this campus is likely for at least decades, if not centuries, to be kept as a sacred place of worship.”
