Dan Quayle’s endorsement for Romney inspires Internet jokes
Dan Quayle will endorse presidential hopeful Mitt Romney.
CNN reports that Quayle is expected to announce his endorsement alongside Romney at an event in Phoenix. Quayle served as vice president under former President George H.W. Bush. Quayle’s endorsement will come a week after Romney met with George and Barbara Bush.
While in office, Quayle’s contant flubs were often the butt of political jokes by the media and public in general. His most famous flub was misspelling the word ‘potato’ as ‘potatoe’ at an elementary school spelling bee in Trenton, New Jersey in 1992.
After news broke of Quayle’s endorsement of Romney, many Internet users joked about the announcement, including one user who said, “UPDATE: Dan Quayle has endorsed Mitt Romney, even though he still can’t spell ‘Mitt Romney.’”
