McSteamy will be greatly missed
Sorry to disappoint you Grey’s Anatomy fans, but Eric Dane, otherwise known as “McSteamy,” has decided to leave the show. Fans are shocked and disappointed by McSteamy’s decision of quitting after six seasons.
Eric Dane tells TVLive.com, “I am extremely grateful to everyone at Grey’s, ABC and Shondaland for the experience and memories I have had over the course of this run. It has been wonderful to work alongside and learn from a creative force such as Shonda Rhimes.’
Unlike how Lexie Grey (Chyler Leigh) left the show as she unexpectedly died in a plane crash, Eric Dane will be wrapping up his story line over the next several episodes of season 9 that will debut in September. Rhimes explained how Eric Dane is one of the most adored characters on “Grey’s Anatomy,” but agrees that it is time to end his character’s storyline. Eric Dane truly loved his time as McSteamy and he certainly did not come to his decision of leaving the show easily.
“We’re a big family here at Grey’s with a long history together and Eric will always remain an important part of our family. I wish him the best and I look forward to watching him as he continues to steam up the big and small screen.”
