During the film of movie, “Of Men and Mavericks,” Butler was injured.
Gerard Butler is now recovering after a surfing accident that happened Sunday afternoon, according to Reuters.
The accident, which occurred on the set of Fox 2000 movie, “Of Men and Mavericks,” involved Butler being dragged over rocks and held underwater by waves at Mavericks, a popular surfing destination in Northern California.
Butler is playing Jay Moriaty, a surfer who died in a free diving accident at the age of 23. Moriarty regularly visited Mavericks.
After being rescued by coast patrolmen and taken to Stanford Medical Center, Butler was ultimately not seriously injured.
The film, directed by Curtis Hanson, also stars Jonny Weston and Elizabeth Shue(Hollow Man).
“Of Men and Mavericks” is due in theaters October 26.
