Houston teen stabbed to death in school

Michael O'Neill

17-year-old murdered

One dead, three wounded in cafeteria altercation

A fight erupted in the cafeteria of Spring High School Wednesday, leaving one dead and three wounded.

The 17-year-old victim was engaged in an altercation with multiple other students in the hallway outside the school cafeteria. The fight quickly escalated when a knife was pulled. The victim died of a series of stab wounds, with eyewitnesses seeing a trail of blood running along the hallway floor.

The attacker was identified as 17-year-old Luis Alonzo Alfaro. Alfaro allegedly stabbed and wounded three others during the attack as well. Alfaro was detained by police whereby he confessed to murder.

School and local authorities believe that gang activity may have been involved. Sheriff Adrian Garcia relayed the event by saying, “we believe a confrontation of some sort occurred…that ultimately led into a physical confrontation that produced weapons. There has been some information that this may have been gang-related.”

Parents in the community are growing more frustrated with the uptick in violence.

“Last year there were gang fights consistently. This is ridiculous. This is an ongoing situation,” local resident Tara Campbell stated.

The three other victims survived their wounds and were rushed to the hospital while classes were immediately cancelled for the rest of the day.

Luis Alonzo Alfaro is currently being held in the Harris County jail with bail set at $50,000.
