Singer gives baby unusual name
Jessica Simpson welcomed her baby girl into the world Tuesday morning. She named her Maxwell Drew Johnson.
This is Jessica Simpson’s first child with fiancé Eric Johnson. According to a source the baby, weighed in at 9 lbs. 13 ounces and measured 21 ¾ inches.
Tuesday afternoon, the singer turned fashion designer announced the arrival of her daughter on her official website. “We are so grateful for all the love, support, and prayers we have received,” she wrote. “This has been the greatest experience of our lives!”
Jessica Simpson, 31, and Eric Johnson, 32, got engaged in November 2010 after just six months of dating. They have yet to set a wedding date as they preferred to wait until after the baby’s arrival.
Jessica Simpson announced the news of her pregnancy last Halloween via Twitter. She tweeted a picture of herself in a mummy costume and wrote, “It’s true! I am going to be a mummy!”
In December, Jessica Simpson talked to Us Weekly about her imminent motherhood. “Eric and I love each other so much and knowing that I love this baby inside of me is so amazing — I love it so much, and I haven’t even met them yet,” Simpson gushed. “I can’t imagine how much love we’ll have for it once it finally comes!”
In April, she appeared nude on the cover of Elle Magazine, showing off her belly. She hinted that she and Johnson would be picking a “non-traditional” name for the baby. Maxwell is reportedly Johnson’s middle name. The middle name comes from Simpson’s maternal grandmother, Tina Simpson, whose maiden name is Drew.
