The long-time couple split ‘amicably’
Johnny Depp and long-time girlfriend Vanessa Paradis have split up after 14 years.
Depp’s publicist Robi Braum said in a statement, “Johnny Depp and Vanessa Paradis have amicably separated. Please respect their privacy and, more importantly, the privacy of their children.”
The couple’s split follows after a year’s worth of rumors of love on the rocks, although Depp had dismissed all rumors of a split to The Sun back in May. Rumors of the couple having problems surfaced after Paradis has not been present with Depp during Red Carpet events for the past year.
Depp and Paradis met while filming Roman Polanski’s The Ninth Gate. The couple started dating after Depp’s split with supermodel Kate Moss in 1998.
Before dating Paradis Depp had a long string of relationships. Depp was initially married to Lori Anne Allison from1983 to1985. Following the breakup Depp was engaged to Jennifer Grey. Depp started a high profile relationship with Winona Ryder—17 at the time—that lasted throughout the early 90s. Leading to a tattoo dedicated to Ryder that read, “Winona Forever.” Following the break up Depp changed the tattoo to “Wino Forever.”
Depp and Paradis have two children together, Lily-Rose, 13, and Jack, 9. The couple went back and forth between their home in the Caribbean, France and California.
Back in an interview with OK! Magazine Depp stated, “You can’t plan the kind of deep love that results in children. Fatherhood was not a conscious decision but now I have become the perfect example of all the paternity cliches I laughed at for years. I look forward to having more children. I’d have a hundred if Vanessa were willing.”
Troubles between the two started to arise after the family moved from France out to California.
