Pop newcomer, Meghan Trainor is taking the music industry by storm with her debut single, “All About That Bass.”
The 20-year-old singer-songwriter from Nantucket has been shaking up the charts with her latest single. In fact, “All About That Bass” soared to the top of Billboard Hot 100 garnering the number two spot.
The track is a bold self-acceptance anthem that shares Trainor’s view on body image by claiming she won’t be a “stick figure silicone Barbie doll” type, and anyone who’s looking for that better get to stepping.
The song is accompanied by a vibrant 50’s inspired music video that has gone viral. The video features bubbly pastel colors and plenty of booty popping as Trainor sings, “Yeah, my mama she told me don’t worry about your size, She says boys like a little more booty to hold at night.”
A catchy track with a mix of pop, rock, soul and even country, “All About That Bass” has earned critical success for its message of female empowerment, encouraging women of all shapes and sizes to feel comfortable in their own skin.
Aside from the song’s optimistic theme, Trainor’s vocals are smooth and crisp and she’s certainly all about the music and she allows it to speak for itself in her breakthrough single which is only the beginning of bigger things to come from the pop sensation who is anticipating the release of her debut EP Title on Sept. 9.
