Happy Wednesday! With it being the first week of the month, it’s the beginning of new theater movies! For all the other movie bugs out there we’re going to name the new releases for this week and talk about the most anticipated films. To start of course we have this upcoming Friday (March 6th) with the following new releases: Chappie, Unfinished Business, The Second Best Exotic Marigold Hotel, Bad Asses on the Bayou, Kidnapping Mr. Heineken, Road Hard, Faults, A Year in Champagne, Merchants of Doubt. Chappie, Unfinished Business, and The Second Best Exotic Marigold Hotel are all the most anticipated releases for this upcoming Friday. Unfortunately, only Chappie and Unfinished Business will be released everywhere. The Exotic Marigold Hotel will have a limited release and not be shown in all theaters along with the others previously named.
Chappie looks to be a sci-fi, action/thriller film of epic proportions! Starring Hugh Jackman (Les Miserables), Sigouney Weaver (Avatar), Dev Patel (The Last Airbender), and Sharlto Copley (Maleficent) as Chappie, the film is one about a robot (dubbed Chappie) who gets new programming and is able to think and feel for himself like a human would. With authorities like Jackman and Weaver seeing this as a threat to mankid and the system, it is ordered that Chappie must be destroyed so there can be no others like him. Both trailers released look promising and have left viewers impatiently waiting for the release, see the trailer for Chappie here.
Unfinished Business is the latest comedy for Vince Vaughn (Delivery Man), also starring Dave Franco (Now You See Me), Tom Wilkinson (Selma), Sienna Miller (American Sniper), and James Marsden (27 Dresses). With Vaughn leaving his former company and starting his own with Franco and Wilkinson they find themselves in a disastrous yet hilarious situation as they desperately try to close a deal during a business trip to Europe. One of the best to be premiering this Friday, you can check out the beyond funny trailer here.
Last but certainly not least we have The Second Best Exotic Marigold Hotel with an all-star ensemble cast line up of amazing talent. Judi Dench (Skyfall), Maggie Smith (Downton Abbey), Bill Nighy (About Time), Celia Imrie (Nanny McPhee), Richard Gere (Nights in Rodanthe), Penelope Wilton (Downton Abbey), and Dev Patel. A sequel to the sleeper hit The Best Exotic Marigold Hotel that was released in 2012, with most of the original cast. It continues the story of Muriel Donnelly (Maggie Smith) who is still managing the vibrant old-folks residency in India. With help from Sonny (Dev Patel) Donnelly is attempting to arrange for corporate funding in order to turn the hotel into a franchise. Toss some of life in there including continuous flirting, casual sleeping around, keeping track of multiple suitors, a wedding being planned while another man is trying to romance the grooms mother, and you have a recipe for what could be another comedic hit. The trailer and all the laughs it contains can be seen here.
So that’s a wrap for this week and the movies it holds, hopefully you found something that caught your interest to fill your weekend time. If not, there’s always next week with a fresh set of films to tug at your funny bone and blame for the tears in your eyes.
