Sarah Burke in critical condition following halfpipe accident
Candaian skier Sarah Burke is in critical condition after hitting her head on a faulty landing.
ABC News reports that Burke, 29, crashed while on a training run on Tuesday. She is currently in a coma.
“Sarah sustained serious injuries and remains intubated and sedated in critical condition,” Dr. Safdar Ansari, a neurointensivist with University of Utah Health Care said.
“It didn’t look like it was a real stunner of a fall, but obviously it was one of those ones where she hit just right and it was more pointed than it appeared,” Canadian Freestyle Ski Association CEO Peter Judge said.
“Sarah is a very strong young woman and she will most certainly fight to recover,” Rory Bushfield, Burke’s husband, said in a statement.
