With so many people looking for recognition for their musical artistry, it is hard to find people that stand out from the masses. These artists had something extra that made them levitate from the pack that caught our attention. Here are the artists that you should be listening to.
ARTIST: Umiaq
GENRE: Electronic/New Age
Samuel Murphy, who goes by the name of Umiaq, boasts a unique sound that ranges from ambient to chillwave. His background as a drummer and his music studies in LA have played into his productions, with each song showing a vast knowledge of music. Georgina Pellant from Noisegate described his music as a “mix of lush, downtempo beats with a distinct summer nights feel to them.” His EP “Far From Home” was his latest effort and shows his growth as a musician. Noisegate also compares Umiaq to the likes of Bonobo, Jon Hopkins and Burial. Umiaq never stops working, with his latest EP already slaying the scene with two new track called “Promises” and “My Storm”.

ARTIST: Cardiac
GENRE: Hip Hop/Experimental
Cardiac is a 21-year-old artist originally from Dallas, Texas who now lives in Chicago, Illinois. He’s been making music for about 7 years and thanks to that long amount of time and practice, he’s created quite a refreshing sound. He likes to look at every song as an individual piece of artwork. It is for this reason that one word may fall on a beat in a very unusual way, but it is always on purpose because he believes art isn’t perfect, so his music should reflect this notion. When it comes to music or live performances, he always tries to make his music come to life. He likes his fans to have their vision for their favorite song play out live on stage in front of them. During his spare time he practices Buddhism and also is serving in the United States Navy.
