Some changes to be made to the Star Wars tradition with “Star Wars 1313”
Man-made Gadgets and weapons replace the “force,” while a dark and criminal underworld replaces the planet of Coruscant in the new Star Wars 1313, produced by LucasArts and Industrial Light & Magic.
The game will allow its player to assume the role of a third person bounty hunter who creates his own weapons.
The featured underworld in Star Wars 1313, where the main character immerses his enterprises is called the Level 1313. Representatives of LucasArts revealed that Level 1313 is “A ruthless criminal underground deep below the surface of the planet of Coruscant,” and the player will control “a deadly bounty hunter as he uses an arsenal of exotic weaponry to hunt down his marks and uncover the truth surrounding a criminal conspiracy.”
While Star Wars fans are accustomed to limited blood and sexual references, some are predicting that the new Star Wars 1313 may feature references of the like. Star Wars 1313 is set to be rated “M” for “mature.”
On the new, more realistic approach to the intergalactic film series, Forbes contributor Dave Thier writes, “Jedi are cool, don’t get me wrong. They move stuff with their minds and have lightsabers – these are things I can get behind. But the mythic, spiritual soldiers at the center of the Star Wars universe never interested me as much as the dirtier elements around the outside – smugglers, bounty hunters, crime lords, gas miners and the like.”
Thier adds, “Maybe in addition to blasters, the bounty hunter will slip good old-fashioned knives and fists into the mix somewhere” in hopes of finding such facets in Star Wars 1313.
LucasArts released a photo of a scene in “Star Wars 1313” to offer a sneak preview of the game. The photo can be found on the Entertainment Weekly web site.
